Day 143, May 23rd, 2011. Monday.

CG training, extra tonight.  The all woman's team. Lots of fun and games to come on Saturday.

Busy weekend at the marina, long weekend flurries of activity on the water.  nitting, knot.

full week ahead of many things;  lovely skies, warmish abit days, spring progressing still without shedding winter's mantle completely.  Garden's - some things growing very well, others slowly changing until more heat comes their way.... basil, tomatoes, berries, jasmine..... fragrant roses blooming away...

Mr Kitty loving tlc times, very funny boy these days.

supper tonight - local crab steamed and sweet to taste. Mr Kitty loves a bit tooo.

Day 140, May 20th, 2011. Friday.

TGIF. And then some!

Now at last a new leaf, a new email and a spate of new adventures to pursue. And yet another added to plate for next weekend.  An all female crew for adventures in rescue training with several units. West Van unit 1 is holding a SAREX event, "Search and Rescue Exercises" with many units invited and several skills required. Last time one was held I was a photographer on the media boat. Recovering from injuries at the time. Now is my time to play! Can't wait.

A breeef writing tonight, very late after much research via internet... now  dust is settling.  Answers found to questions raised, unraveled threads found their flow.

catch and release (and not a stitch done yet!) rather a day of gathering and musing. Organizing materials, found file of top info needed. Mr kitty did his best to turn off the monitor - blocking it several times at any rate.  He does  enjoy tlc/ rides / cuddles. Sweet boy. d2!

Day 134, Saturday, May 14th. 2011.

Oh yeah, yesterday was Friday the 13th, a good luck day.

While recovering from Thursday's effects of having to breath a spill of diesel for hours while at work- leaky vessel some distance away at a local dock - fresh air and steam from shower proved very helpful.   good fortune was there in sheeps clothing.

Sheep clothing: read fleece made into yarn to what purpose? ahh, knit one purl crochet too!

Mr Kitty sends his regards, ah speak of the divil... cannot see the whole monitor for some furry reason?  Ah there he goes into a favourite toy - large paper bag on its side now with furry adornment, not so cozy, mr k now moved to window box view of ocean.  Ocean currently under misty cloud of rain in the deepening darkness.

Thanks t for asking what I do on a Saturday night?  coast guard 12 hour pager watch plus supper/feed pets/ etc. now tea time after bit more work...... thanks d for your sharing, happy reunion now in full swing!  Nice thing about closing at marina, cash is counted and won't need to do so in am, will be same number few hours later upon opening... flow. 

Sunday ritual, best music of the week - Chorale Concert food for the soul even at marina.  Surrounded on three sides by harbour waters, full sea views, ducks/geese/birds feathered fishers diving and flying.    Inspiration.

Day 132, May 12th, 2011. Thursday.

Mr Kitty is really into mememeeeee infront of monitor - pet me play with me-even-though-we-just had- tons-of-cuddles-scritches-under-chin-toooo.

moments later......                                                                                                                                                                  Mr Kitty just had first nail trim.  All of them.  Being more indoors than out-doors lately lends self to nails becoming razors, aka curved daggers too.  Oh joy! no more holes in shirts inadvertently...  He is not quite sure what happened... but dried salmon treats went a long way to making contented kitty in spite of it all.  He is such an easy-going guy.

Lace work. best kind of fibre work.  bellisimo.  froth of seafoam growing onto colourful shawl body. Expression in every move.  just the way I like it.

Thanks d. Fabulous.  the good one does returns in plentitude.  hi to someone else with a kitty who hides in the garden...spindle away! ; ^))

Day 130, May 10th, 2011. Tuesday.

To what end a blog? to write, to explore, to discuss, to share. 

To this end I am a bit speechless as to the why's and how's of things which cross our path.  No matter what we do, others will do differently according to their style. 

I am so fortunate for my coast guard training, flying along the sea ( I do really love to sail and sometimes kayak...) is an amazing way to clear the cobwebs. 

Knitting of late with second colour on shawl, blending really well with beginning of lace border, exquisite to knit a balanced wave of lace stitches. Rhythm and flow.

Mr Kitty is all curled up snug as a kitty curled on a cozy blanky. Point taken, bonne nuit.

 

Day 126, May 6th, 2011. Friday.

emails are a rather subject thing.  Subject to being read, subject to being sent.  particularly subject to scrutiny when compromised.  Too funny there is nothing there.  Except perfectly legitimate private writings meant for sender and recipient only.  What ever happened to the days of honest mail delivery?  Truly offending to find mail compromised, there is more in this blog than elsewhere.

Knitting on pog of fine yarn, finding continental knitting style is definitely slower than English method for long rows (200 sts for instance) of purl after purl after purl after...  Purl in english method being relatively slower over long distance knitting than continental knit stitch of a quick pick.  approaximately 100 Kst taking 5 minutes, and corresponding number of st in English purl method taking 7 minutes.  Though 'tis faster than continental purl method taking yet 10 minutes for 100sts.  Acres of practice perhaps help, continental method barely months old this year!

Very exciting, just reached stage of st st shawl body finished now picking up new colour of yarn for lace border and beads too...  Often knit on for a spell as rows rapidly grew longer then switched to another pog of mixed stitches for a change.  past two days have seen intent on finishing the st st  main body of pog in order to reach the best to yet knit part of  Lace!!!  at last.  The fun part.  So exciting to see the embellishment grow after basic yardage created.  Colour changes held interest for plain knitting, vastly entertaining this bit of yarn, tempted to use it in border too....

time to experiment with lace border eyelet patterns and colour... (similiar to ideas floating about for fun excursions to share with others.  Amazing what comes out of the woodwork when ideas are cast, released so completely they are all but forgotten about, and returned in quick fashion, much sooner than expected and with greatest zeal. surpise. dreams realized. Experimenting in endeavours - more another time - that  bring joy).

Day 123, May 3rd. 2011.Tuesday.

Hard to believe it has been so many days since writing last.  Computer troubles and emails troubles abounding since last Thursday, consuming much time in efforts to correct them, still ongoing.

When does making the best effort count?  Always, even if you are the only one   noticing.  misinterpretations, intentions not expressed, too - intentions not met, clarity is an important key.  Always.

knitting is clear enough proof.  make a stitch, it is visible for all to see, who choose to.  A good quote I heard today, "...we are here to pulse our intention from where we are... we are a stitch in the fabric of the universe... every stitch counts."

 

Day 118, all day Thursday, April 28th. 2011.

catch...ideas, flow, ...this took me to photography late in the afternoon.  Umpteen  blossoms on umpteen plants to shoot. Blossoms not seen a hint of last month suddenly flourishing quickly.  Fabulous white star magnolias, strawberry petals, pink kinikkinik, flowering currant, champagne currant - wonderful berry to eat soon to follow! - white fawn lily, sweet violets, salmonberry, gooseberry, trillium... some arrived quickly and met with rain, others looking fresh and strong, yet more budding.  The busiest time of year. Pulled a few weeds, those nasty silent ones waiting for sun then pop! sproing! seeds spraying everywhere yet more weeds to grow....

now if such seeds were thoughts and could spread so far and fast of good intentions ... creating public leaders with integrity who follow through and are building upon the good of others - those others referring to the thousands and more who built this country 100, 200, and more years ago to what we had before the past years of governing have diminished the lights we knew, the lights which shone so brilliantly others called Canada a leader. Those lights have dimmed recently, so much so other countries wonder what happened to Canada?

Fortunately there is such a leader with integrity ready to govern.  Someone I have met more than once.  One who I can say is different and dynamic with clear intent to rebuild, not disintegrate, our tapestry on the westcoast for starters. Dan Veniez. A vote this time must be for true democracy. He and his party care about people, how people live, how people connect, understanding the life force and what is needed to keep us connected as a whole. How to thrive, with strength. To grow.

Growing is the key. One stitch after another, one intent built upon the last, grow forward.

Release.                       and grow some more.

Day 116, April 26th, 2011. Tuesday.

Toosday, afternoon....(moody blues comes to mind)

Sunshine blue sky with fluffed tightly scrumpled low white clouds, cumulous type.

day of details and choices / decisions. gathering tools to grow forward with.  Calender at work has april page showing a yellow porsche abstract 911 with the words "go only forward"

knitting loose pouch to sew up and felt, add buttons and embellishment. new ideas percolating, picture in mind of finished object in use, more to elaborate on after said pouch is complete.  happy customers at marina today, more spring transformations, finally weather seems to have lost much of its winter chill, do need hat though, something intense and mild looking  -wind?sun?- as a silent windburn felt even on coolish day.  this will be a summer for long sleeves hats trousers.  handwarmers in sturdy knit to cover skin, need flexibility and hardwearing.  new designs do flow...

Day 115, Easter Monday. April 25th, 2011.

Seems grace for holidays is no longer prevelent among business.  Some yes, many no.  Used to be this was a long holiday weekend, now the Friday is observed somewhat, many boaters on the sea to enjoy the extra day off.   Though advance polls took place as they did today.  Used to be no liquor stores were allowed to be open on voting day. 

For those who worked, extra pay is welcomed, how gratifying to see familiar faces who remember moi et la chien - puppy - from last fall.   She does have a following! Joy of perks from services rendered.

Now to look up a website for a local artisan heard tell of...
